British/American painter & photographer born in 1972. He lives, studies and works in New York City and is currently pursuing a certificate at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in Manhattan.
"People" is a personal series of paintings cultivated from fears, insecurities and passions. Life dances with death. Peace struggles with violence. Humanity wrestles with equality. And reason struggles with the afterlife. The paintings are tumultuous, chaotic, and filled with diverging aggressiveness. Nonetheless, these works achieve peace and harmony by balancing disorder, spontaneity and an intrinsic sense of control, color, line and shape. The subjects have an implied physicality without being bound by natural limitations. Artistic expression rises from the painted surface without a clear representation of reality. The paintings demand open and free analysis by the viewer and cause each person to pause and contemplate their own fears, insecurities and passions.
