I am a published fine-art photographer based in Cape Town, working mainly with wildlife, birds, coastlines and places in southern Africa.
I enjoy spending time observing a subject, watching its behaviour and paying attention to the small changes in light, expression or atmosphere that make a photograph worth keeping. Some of my photographs capture a moment much as I experienced it, while others are more interpretive, using black-and-white, contrast and composition to bring out something different in the subject.
My work includes wildlife and bird photography, alongside more artistic photographic studies. I am particularly interested in the character of animals and the relationship between them and their surroundings.
Several of my wildlife photographs appear in Kruger Speaks: An Intimate View of a Magnificent Wildlife Park (Struik Nature / Penguin Random House South Africa, 2026), written by Helena Kriel and Don Pinnock, alongside contributions from other photographers. My photographs have also appeared in Imagine, Getaway, the Birds of Southern Africa calendar and the Daily Star.

Self-taught as a photographer, with formal university education outside the visual arts. Kossowski's earliest photographic influence was his father, who travelled widely from the 1940s onward and documented the places and people he encountered through photography and film.
His own photographic education has developed over decades through practice, observation and time in the field, studying light, composition, behaviour and the changing character of place. His professional background in business, communication and storytelling has also influenced the narrative discipline of his work and the way he approaches the relationship between an image and the story it carries.
He continues to regard photography as an evolving practice: part instinct, part discipline, and always dependent on looking carefully.
