Adela Dirzu

Born in Moldova in the final years of the Soviet Union, I grew up in a world where language itself was in flux—caught between Cyrillic and Latin, between inherited systems and emerging freedoms. This in-between space shaped my way of seeing: nothing felt fixed, everything carried layers, echoes, and quiet instability.

That early sensitivity to shifting realities led me far from home, first to Norway, where I studied simultaneous interpretation and journalism, expanding not only my languages but also my sense of how meaning is carried, translated, and transformed. For over a decade, France has been my base—less a destination than a place where my photographic language slowly found its own voice.

Photography, for me, is an invitation to slow down and truly observe. In a world shaped by speed and constant motion, I am drawn to the quiet poetry of everyday life—the subtle beauty that often goes unnoticed.

My work explores the passing of time through moments that are fleeting, modest, and deeply human. I pause, contemplate, and capture what exists in the space between movement and stillness: a shifting light, a silent gesture, an overlooked detail.
