Lotta Doll

In my work, I seek balance—between order and emotion, between construction and intuition. My paintings emerge from a clear inner structure. A strong central axis, symmetrical compositions, and geometric shapes give them stability and tranquility.
The influence of Cubism accompanies me, but I translate it into my own language. I break down forms into surfaces, work with clear black contours, and deliberately refrain from plastic modeling. For me, color stands on its own—direct, unbroken, honest.
The eyes of my figures and animal motifs are particularly important to me. They convey expression, presence, and a quiet emotionality. They form the heart of my work.
At the same time, I allow myself a certain naivety—not by chance, but by choice. I reduce, simplify, and leave room for immediacy. My art may be clear, decorative, and yet carry depth.
I do not paint to depict the world realistically. I rearrange it – into surfaces, lines, and gazes. And in this reduction, my very own visual language emerges: geometric, calm, and yet full of emotion.
