Afsaneh Akhoondi is a Toronto-based visual artist whose mixed-media practice includes painting, drawing, printmaking, and installation. Drawing from her life experiences, she creates work grounded in the social and political changes she witnessed in Iran, including revolution, war, sanctions, and women’s protests. Since immigrating to Canada, she has explored identity and cultural continuity between her homeland and her new environment. Afsaneh has held over eight solo exhibitions and participated in numerous national and international group shows in Canada, Iran, Italy, Switzerland, and France. Moreover, in Toronto, she has conducted workshops for the TDSB, TPL, North York non-profits, and the City of Toronto. In Iran, she served as a faculty member, art teacher, coordinator, programmer, and portfolio organizer. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Painting, an MFA from Azad Art University in Tehran, and an Arts Management certificate from Centennial College in Toronto.
