Ahmad Sofyan

Ahmad Sofyan is a painter based in Yogyakarta Indonesia. He completed his fine art studies at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta in 2026. His interest in art began in childhood through a habit of drawing whenever space was available and later developed into a consistent and reflective artistic practice.

His works employ a figurative and realist approach while deliberately avoiding conventional rules of perspective. Distorted spaces unusual viewpoints and unstable compositions are used as visual strategies to build psychological tension and ambiguity. Metaphor plays an important role in his work as a way to convey meaning without relying on explicit verbal narratives.

Ahmad primarily explores themes related to social dynamics emotional instability alienation and the normalization of deviant behavior among young people. He is interested in how small moral deviations when repeated over time can accumulate and lead to deeper mental and ethical crises. Personal experiences self reflection and references to psychology and philosophy form the conceptual foundation of his artistic process.
