Alina Mavrova

I am a visual artist based in Sofia, working primarily in acrylic painting. My practice explores emotional states, relationships, and inner worlds through symbolic, animal-centered imagery — particularly bulls and cows, animals typically read as heavy and powerful, which I reimagine as tender, deeply sensitive beings.

Alongside this, I paint from a quieter, more personal place — imagined memories, family, and the slower rhythms of a world that feels increasingly out of reach. Whether through symbolic animal portraits or intimate figurative scenes, my work returns again and again to the same question: what does tenderness look like, underneath something that appears heavy, distant, or already gone.

I work across several bodies of work, including the Gentle Creatures series and The Little Travelers series, and I've shown my paintings at Marina Franzetti Gallery (Plovdiv) and Ravadinovo Castle.
