Ethereal and somewhat surreal, the work of Alison Shepard seems to both occupy this world and another beyond it. Alison’s love of narrative allows her subjects to evoke a sense of magic realism. Whether the subject is a flower, a face, a figure or space itself, Alison's work has an unmistakable glow that sets her art apart.
Alison received her BFA from Northern Kentucky University and her MFA from Miami of Oxford, Ohio. She has studied Printmaking both locally and abroad at the Joan Miro Foundation in Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
Alison recently took the leap of faith out of the Ivory Tower of academia, leaving her post as a full time professor, to pursue her career as a full time artist.
Alison’s art has been widely displayed throughout Greater Cincinnati as well as across the United States. Her work has been collected by many private clients across the midwest region. She has work on permanent display at the Museum of Spiritual Art in Franklin, Ohio; and her printmaking is part of the works on paper collections at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the University of Dallas, and the Cincinnati Art Museum.
