About Margarita Afanasjeva

Margarita was born in 1971 and raised in small town Sillamäe (Estonia), 30 km from Russia. She is a self-taught artist. In her young age she was a professional swimmer - maybe that's why watercolor is her favorite medium. Margarita loves music and singing. "I started painting seriously when I fell and broke my right hand in 2014. Forced to stay at home for a few months I began to draw with my left hand. I do painting primarily for my own pleasure. Sometimes I want to please others and give them what I'm sure they will like. I am always inspired by nature. At times interesting, unusual people inspire me. If I have the inspiration - I can use any medium or any material! Sometimes I try to imitate the Creator by capturing some of His amazing works in my artwork, other times attempt just to express the feelings His creation awakens in me."
Margarita artworks can be found in private collections in Estonia, Russia, Germany and USA.
