"Celdas" (Prison Cells)

In "Celdas" I use absurdity to address the problem of violence in Central America. The economic and social situation in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras along with the sequels left behind by civil wars in Central America have contributed to the gravity of the problem. In an effort to escape the situation marginalized youngsters immigrate to the U.S. where inevitably they end up joining gangs, eventually getting deported and bringing "Gangster" culture back to their homeland. Gang related crimes, drug cartels, and political instability are the major sources of violence in that area today. By bringing outdoors activities inside" imaginary Central American spaces" I try to address the voluntary reclusion to which citizens have subjected themselves to, for fear of their safety.
