Oil portraits of powerful stories, timeless works honoring women, memory, and legacy.

Amélie Vallières is a Canadian painter whose practice centers on the lived experience of womanhood. Working in oil, she creates intimate portraits that balance classical rigor with expressive freedom, revealing strength, vulnerability, and quiet defiance in equal measure. Each work unfolds as a visual narrative, an invitation to reflection, recognition, and emotional inheritance.

Rooted in memory and lineage, her paintings explore themes of identity, resilience, and self becoming. Women emerge not as ideals, but as complex, embodied presences shaped by personal history and collective pasts. Vallières’ work resists perfection in favor of truth, offering images that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant.

Her forthcoming body of work expands this exploration by drawing from myth, religious symbolism, and literary archetypes to tell enduring stories of womanhood, stories passed down, rewritten, and reclaimed across generations.

Amélie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of Montreal, with a minor in Fine Arts. Her academic training provides a strong foundation in visual language, materiality, and historical context, informing her approach to oil painting with depth and intention. This grounding supports a practice that moves fluidly between classical portrait and glazing techniques and a more intuitive, self directed process, allowing contemporary feminist narratives to emerge with clarity and emotional resonance.
