Ana Maria Negară

The universe that Ana Maria Negara creates through the mirroring of the inner towards the interior, denotes an impressive accumulation of cultural knowledge for such an young artist but also a fascination, knowingly pursued, for understanding, capturing and reformulating an old repertoire of symbols and meanings. Nothing is by chance in this installation, where philosophy and metaphysics enter in a complex game of interaction with the inner-self of the viewer. The contradictory meanings confuse him, therefore his return to the stability of the wand, thus controlled, assures him the continuity of the adventure. It is only one possible interpretation, extremely synthetic, of what lives and is being offered by the young artists in her piece. Therefore, we can place the typology of the expression in the realm of “philosophical sculpture”, conceptual, which owes its existence to the new standards of contemporary art. Discussions that debate the concept and content of local and global or centre and periphery, lead to the definition of “universal artist”.
