Anastasiia Borodina

Anastasia Borodina is a contemporary artist whose work unites the precision of classical painting with a modern, emotional sensibility. Exhibited internationally — including with the Royal Societies in London, the Portrait Society of America, and the Almenara Collection in Spain — her paintings are held in private collections across Europe, the USA, and New Zealand.

Now based in Manchester, Anastasia develops her Oriental Series, exploring the dialogue between classical form and contemporary perception. Working in traditional media, she examines how cultural symbols and rituals evolve in modern society, reflecting on the human search for meaning, identity, and beauty amid change. In recognition of her artistic contribution, she was elected Member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA) in 2024.

Growing up in the North Caucasus and graduating with honours from the Ilya Repin’s Academy of Arts in Saint-Petersburg, she was inspired by the history and culture of the people from Western Asia. In the academy, Anastasia learned from the best representatives of the Russian classical school of painting in the workshop of renowned artist Yuri Kalyuta.
