About Andrea Hauer

Austrian- Chilean visual artist raised in Chile and living in Madrid. I use "low-tech" ways of making to create contemporary works which are just different times from a life-long ongoing process. I often look for new ways of using used and recycled materials and try to use mediums coming from different sources, not just brushes, pencils and inks, also leftovers, a tooth brush, shoe, milk - even my own blood (a long time ago)…
Everything has a meaning and it’s able to communicate something which I find interesting in my practice. I'm very conscious about our environment so recycling material and use leftovers is fundamental for my practice. I recycle material, images, experiences. I'm obsessed with time, process, changes, memory, traces and I think that used materials "carry" memories. I believe, as an artist, that we should use what surrounds us, these being experiences, materials and/ or objects…
