Andrew Sturgess

Born and raised in small town Connecticut — near the shore, but in the woods. I was educated in art and design at Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute. This was a truly wonderful and multicultural experience. City life and small town life have equally influenced my work.

I seek to find beauty in normal and strange places: wild flowers, quiet parking lots, a tree covered winding road, a place that’s crowded, maybe a garbage can.

Colors are emotions to me, and I choose my colors very carefully. I want my paintings to each be their own meditation, or a curious universe to find yourself in.
