Anna Hristich

Hi, I'm Anna, a photographer based in the Basque Country of northern Spain.

I grew up in Odesa, a sun-drenched city on the Black Sea where the markets overflow with fresh fish and ripe tomatoes, and life revolves around good food and the sea. I think that's where my love for nature, and for cooking something unexpected, first took root.

Life eventually brought me to the green, misty north of Spain, and I fell in love all over again. The Basque coastline, the hills of Cantabria, the wildlife hiding in plain sight — it's a completely different world from the Black Sea, but it speaks to me just as deeply. These days, my camera goes wherever I go.

I photograph landscapes and animals. Mostly, those quiet, in-between moments that are easy to walk past. A lone egret on a still lake. Fog rolling through a valley at dawn. The kind of scenes that make you slow down and breathe.

When I'm not out shooting, I'm probably in the kitchen trying a recipe I've never attempted before, deep in a book, or on the couch with Winston — my Maine Coon, who is convinced he's the real artist in this household.
