Jole (Annejole Jacobs-de Jongh - 1964) is a dutch painter from Rotterdam. She makes modern portraits of people, things and theme’s by assignment or as free work.
The different series of portraits are mixed media, painted on a printed background consisting of manipulated images from art history, printed media, advertising, texts, pictures and clothing fabrics. With the background of the painting she gives information in an unexpected way about the person, thing of theme that is portrayed.
In her work Jole is inspired by the environment around her, nature, what goes on in people, by events in the news and on social media, by history and by different cultures, countries and cities.
Master's in law & Management degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Marketing and Public relations education. Courses portrait drawing, painting, screen printing, photography and digital photo design.
In 2019 Annejole participated in the National TV programme 'Sterren op het doek' in which she made the winning portrait of the famous dutch tv-presentator Matthijs van Nieuwkerk.
Jole exhibits in galleries, museums and at Art fairs. With Queen Maxima's painting she won the first prize in a national competition in 2009 and exhibited at the CODA-Museum. In 2015 she was selected as one of the contemporary Dutch pop art artists for the ‘Ontpopt’ exposition in the Museum of Zandvoort and in 2016 her painting of ‘Van Gogh’ was selected for the exposition ‘125 variations of Van Gogh’ in the museum of Breda.
