Anne Whately

I'm an Australian contemporary artist working primarily in acrylics, painting figurative, portrait, abstract and urban works. Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I sold my first piece at 15, to my art teacher.

Born and raised in Melbourne, I spent nearly 40 years in fashion design and lecturing at university level, along with a decade designing jewellery. That background gave me a love of figurative work, colour and the discipline of line. In time, I also found real freedom in abstract work and urbanscapes.

I travel extensively and work from studios in Cairns, London and Spain. Each place brings its own light, atmosphere and inspiration, and that shapes what I paint. My work is held in private and corporate collections across Australia, the UK and the US.

My aim is to capture not just an image or an idea, but a feeling you can connect with.
