Anne Zelenka, Colorado abstract artist.

I use an intuitive, expressionist approach, building each painting in layers over time to create a rich sense of texture and depth. My work often begins with gestural marks and evolves through iterations of control and letting go.

Instead of deciding on a subject up front, I allow the work to reveal itself organically, naming the pieces only once they have reached a state of completion. Whether rooted in the mountains and flora of the Colorado landscape or the abstract energy of movement, I seek to translate lived experience into a visual language of sensation and memory.

I have been painting seriously for fifteen years, teaching myself the skills I need to produce unique and energetic abstracts.

In a previous life, I worked as an AI/ML engineering leader after earning a PhD in Research Methods and Statistics. I find that creating art uses both sides of my brain: the left for color and composition theory and the right for intuitive creativity.
