I am Ante Grčić, an academic painter, born in 1959 in Sinj, Croatia. I completed my studies in fine arts in 1985 in Split, earning a degree in printmaking under the mentorship of Professor Petar Jakelić. Over the years, I have developed a multifaceted artistic practice encompassing painting, drawing, and ceramics.
In the late 1990s, I played a key role as an organiser and coordinator of the Biston Art Colony, held in Baško Polje under the patronage of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia. My artistic themes are diverse and vary depending on the medium I work with. Mythological subjects dominate my ceramic pieces, while landscapes are the prevailing motif in my paintings. My depictions of Biokovo, early medieval Croatian churches, the Adriatic Sea, and coastal pine trees have become synonymous with my name, particularly in Makarska, where my art has resonated with audiences for decades.
I have participated in numerous exhibitions, often collaborating with my wife, Marija Grčić Tomašević, who is also an accomplished painter.
