Anthony Carey

Over the years, Anthony has developed a style of painting which is both high quality and instantly identifiable as a 'Carey'. In many ways his method is classic, but his unique palette and technique take it beyond its subject matter to offer the viewer an immersive experience of colour and texture.
Most of his working life has been spent as a professional musician and it is this, together with his home in beautiful South Devon in England, and his love of turn of the 20th century art, that have clearly influenced his style of painting.
He started painting in the early '90's, and at that time he painted large, highly individual works, normally of room interiors or still-life in acrylic paint. These proved to be extremely popular with numerous exhibitions, both solo and joint, in the UK, and this carried on until a break in 2012.
The break did him good...returning to painting with a new palette of oil paints, and a renewed vision.
After flirting with realism, producing some outstanding work but, ultimately, finding that it didn't satisfy him creatively, he yearned to regain the excitement of painting. So he made the decision to return to his roots and resume the journey which only artistic experimentation can truly inspire...and for...
