Alberto Penagos

Alberto Penagos.

Born on October 22nd 1988 in Mexico City, his artistic traits were strong and began developing at an early age.

On the year 2005, Alberto Penagos met Jesus Aguirre, who became his first mentor in art appreciation and later on, Aguirre introduced him to a diversity of artistic techniques and to choose the right materials, this enabled him to determine his incipient vocation for painting.
In 2006 he began a bachelor’s degree in graphic design at “Universidad Internacional (UNINTER)” which he graduated in 2010.

There is a clear influence from tenebrism artists such as Caravaggio, Jose de Rivera, Goya and Velazquez as well as inspiration from national and international renowned contemporary artists Rafael Cauduro, Gottfried Helnwen and Istvan Sandorfi to name a few. All of these painters have helped Alberto to achieve a better, more refined technique and an authentic message in accordance to his view on realistic figurative painting.
