Arezou Behrang

I am an Iranian contemporary figurative painter based in Istanbul. My work explores memory, identity, uncertainty, absence , and the psychological tracesthat experiences leave behind.

I work across oil, acrylic, and watercolor, approaching painting intuitively. I may begin with a particular image, feeling, or idea, but I allow the work to change during the process. I am interested in the moment when a painting moves beyond what i initially planned and begins to establish its own presence.

My work often moves between personal experience and the social realities around me. Rather than documenting evens, I am interested in what remains afterward- the emotional and psychological residue carried by the individual.

For me, painting is a form of conversation: a way of giving visual form to something that cannot remain unsaid.
