EDUCATION
Ariadne Lawrence (b. 1986, Québec) is a Paris-based multidisciplinary artist. Holding a Master’s degree in Fine Arts and a PhD from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Her work bridges conceptual research and intuitive, playful experimentation.
Her work focuses on play as a creative process. She permits forms to gradually emerge through accumulative and frequently chance-led gestures, growing from sparse marks into dense, cosmological spaces. A simple line can develop into complex constellations, indicating that even the smallest components of reality already have enormous invisible structures.
She rejects excessive consumption and embraces radical resourcefulness by working almost exclusively with reclaimed materials and commonplace, non-precious mediums, frequently those connected to childhood.
The ludic process is a ludic meditation and turns into a methodical approach to studying how chaos self-organizes, how play creates space, and how the invisible influences the visible to create playful Cartographies of the Living. Value is based not on luxury but on attention and process.
Each artwork sold contributes to The Ehlers-Danlos Society.
She lives and works in Paris.
