Arianna Fugazza

I am an Italian painter. I observe reality, internalise it and reinterpret it through my paintings.

I was born in 1970 in Ferrara, near where I now live and work.

Painting became part of my life whilst I was still a teenager.

I attended drawing classes, but I taught myself painting techniques through observing and reproducing the works of the great masters of the past.

At the age of 20, I attended an airbrushing school, which introduced me to the world of work as a decorator.

Initially, commissions came from the automotive sector, then from the textile and interior design sectors, before I began receiving requests for paintings from private collectors.

After years of painting with acrylics, since 2020 my work has focused on oil painting, with the brush replacing the airbrush.

This choice stemmed from the need to imbue my painting with greater expressive power through a ‘rawer’, more incisive and personal style, where the layering of paint reflects the overlapping of thoughts.

Aspects of nature form the central themes of my paintings. The human figure, when present, plays a supporting role.

In my recent work, the paintings are beginning to lose the traits of objective reality – which characterised my acrylic works – in favour of a subjective vision derived from a careful exploration of memory.
