Arnold Van Rheenen

My name is Arnold van Rheenen, born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, I am an artist with a great love for photography.

The choice of my subjects is very diverse, although you will rarely see any person in my work.
Most of my inspiration arises spontaneously during the trips I take, but now and then I will pick a subject from my "things to photograph" list and travel there to capture material for my creations.

My goal is to fascinate with my work and let it communicate with its viewers.
I am always, searching for "the soul" in the subjects I photographed, bringing out the pure character of the subject.
This transforms the subject in a way you have never seen it, as a speaking object or scene.
The composition invites you into the scene and places you on the spot where I was, as if you are actually there.

I hope you enjoy my artwork.

My father taught me at the age of 14 the basics of photographing.
He himself was a photographer who developed his work at home in a darkroom.
This is when I bought my first camera and started photographing.
At the same time, reading all I could find about photography, from the library back then.
And now, many years later, many cameras later, I am still caught by its magic.
