American Roadside

We don’t regularly experience nature in its pristine form. There is always something in the way, a power line, a fence, a road on the hillside, or part of the forest that was logged and replanted separately from the spot next to it. And it’s simply not interesting to ignore that or attempt to work around it. In the same way that our actual view of nature isn’t this instagram nature photographer version, the way we see most of the world isn’t from standing somewhere and looking at the view, rather through the window of a moving car. With that in mind, a bulk of the photos in the collection were shot out the window of a moving car, and all of them were shot from the car or within a few steps of the road.
