There is no more primordial interaction than between pollinator and blossom. Birds, bugs, and bees are lured by flowers’ siren songs of scent, color, and nectar; then they repay their hosts by spreading their pollen. Food and procreation: the heart of existence itself. We used to know that we depend on these creatures, that they are responsible for seed and fruit. We need to relearn this basic truth now, before more damage is done. Let us reacquaint ourselves with this essential loop of fertility. We need to nurture, not interfere with this magical interconnectivity of life.
