A portrait, an artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant is primarily intended to display the likeness, personality, or mood of the subject. Portraiture at its finest can go beyond these normal parameters though, with portraits of parts of the other body other than the face telling a story or an intimate portrait conveying a more universal message that transcends just the subject.
