In the winter I travelled across Japan with one question: what does this country feel like when the noise fades? This collection is my answer, made from neon alleys in Tokyo to snow-covered villages in the north, from Kyoto temples at dusk to the quiet shores of Mount Fuji. Night is my natural language. Red lanterns, glowing pagodas, taxi lamps and rivers of light reveal a Japan that only appears after dark. Daylight brings its counterpart: frozen railway lines, lone trees under fresh snow, zen gardens framed by temple windows, a single figure walking by the river. Some images are in color, others in black and white, but all share the same search for stillness, geometry and atmosphere. They are not postcards. They are moments of pause, invitations to slow down and look.
