SPLEEN

Spleen is melancholia, nostalgia, homesickness, madness, obsession, eccentricity, hypochondria, anguish, anxiety, bad mood, weariness of life. Spleen is also an organ, for some cultures idiomatic equivalent of the heart (To be good-hearted- to be good spleened), for other the organ of laughter, a regulator of blood cells, temperament and will power. Here, Spleen is not the consequence, is the generator and creative engine. Fictional projections of inner landscapes and emotional architectures are the result of the confrontation of the self and the contemporary reality outside, always in constant senseless contradiction. Spleen is a series of acrylic and oil paintings made in Berlin between 2011 and 2012.
