I have always been interested in slight distortion of anatomy. I have chosen to exaggerate my models' features to be more gaunt, longer necks and flamboyant hair. I think when you slightly distort the mundane, you can see in a new light what was already there in plain sight. My figures are wrapped in fashion, with genuine diamond-studded eyes, self-conscious and weighed down by their heads but I think this only brings out their humanness and their similarities. Quite like tiles. While they have unique colours, motifs and sensibility, they all serve to repeat, all display the same rules of symmetry and all, when viewed together , reveal an overwhelming human similarity.
