“Bee Portraits” 2010

My painting has always been about the environment and how human beings relate to it. "Bee Portraits: Workers Queens and Drones” oil on canvas (90 x 150cm) Bees, for example, reflect universal truths in their society. Their lives are spent innately striving to achieve for the good of the whole, even dying for it. They survive for each other. These paintings show life from the finite to the infinitely large: they are reactions to nature, just as nature reacts to us. They are moments caught in time, for bee’s as much as mankind, the moment is all we have. We learn from our pasts and must learn that the world is really one, big garden, there are no edges or boundaries in nature. My subjects do not end at the edge of the painti
