Santiago is a city defined by its hill islands - ancient mountain peaks and cinder cones which now rise above the wide, flat expanse the city is built upon. This collection investigates the role of the hills in the organization, use, and experience of the city. Three themes emerged from this study and are captured within the works; Protection, Progress, and the idea of Oasis.
