Reclaimed Wood

In a world that is often obsessed with perfection, it is extremely refreshing to create art that celebrates exactly the opposite. It is precisely the aged texture of recycled wood that finds beauty in the imperfect, transient and incomplete. This philosophy derives from the Buddhist teaching of the three marks of existence: impermanence, suffering and emptiness. While these three aspects might sound incredibly morbid, my art on reclaimed wood is all about accepting the natural cycle of growth and embracing it.
