INDIA

Ironically I have photographed India, my native country, only after I left it permanently to live in New York. But in a way it has been good for my work there as coming from abroad as a photographer I saw India with new eyes. I could not have taken these photographs of India while living there because the element of surprise that is almost a prerequisite for a fresh image would have been missing. Only an outsider can notice the uniqueness of a particular place or culture, in images that are common, everyday sight to the local resident.
