“Me in Fire, Me in Water” challenges the rigid roles forced on Middle Eastern women, seen only as mothers or sisters, judged if they love freely. Trapped between the angel and devil, they’re denied wholeness. The 3D figurines are their shadows, dancing freely within the safety of their minds. Two women kiss in fire, unashamed. The orange ribbon symbolizes unity and resistance against cultural oppression. Around them stand cold figures with metal eyes, society’s harsh, unforgiving gaze. This work is both defiance and healing, reclaiming the right to be complex, passionate, and free.
