MESH MASK

This is a series (15 animal’s mask) developed on the theme “animals collective”. The idea was to create some wearable masks with animals’ traits. The material chosen, metallic wire mesh, has two important characteristics: lightness and transparency. This brought to an interesting wearability mood, the artifact is nearly evanescent once worn, it is not hiding but rather adding a new character to whoever puts it on. In a stand-alone mode, it creates, with the suitable lighting, some kind of “phantom” animal. This, for me, well represent the fragility of the nature, the endangered animals, the evanescence of animal life in the universe.
