Hours of air time, column inches, digital media need to be filled constantly. A lot needs to be made of nothing, like fashion; the repetition of the horrors numb us; idiocies spouted by madmen become mantras. Combined, they are what we see, hear and read all day every day to the point of nothingness: no news is the new black. These collages combine the elements that fill our media and juxtapose them into pleasing compositions: they seem familiar and acceptable. The media has succeeded.
