Extreme Textures

This body of work is an exploration into light/shadow and surface. I create a literal surface as well as a pictorial illusion of one. Topographic textures rise and fall, peaks cast shadows and paint pools in the valleys. Not quite sculptures, these works are not strictly paintings either. Like certain natural phenomena, the works draw and hold the attention of the viewer. Inspired by solar flares, aerial views of mountains, dry river beds and rock formations, my paintings are a journey into the known and unknown.
