Windows to other worlds: The observer will perceive which subject is on the painting even if it doesn’t have all the pieces – that doesn’t deprive it of the meaning. Everybody sees the whole that they represent, but everybody also substitutes the missing parts with their own explanation, which is based on one’s previous experiences.
