La Fille Compliquée

This is the story of A’emme, who lived in Paris. Nobody really knows who she was. Her real name was probably Anne Marianne Boulanger, born around 1870; but all information about her was lost in the great fire of the Paris town hall in 1871. All that remained were scraps of correspondence that show she lived, for a very long time, in the ninth arrondissement from 1898 onwards. It seems she reached a very old age – more than a hundred years old . . . Nobody knows exactly how she made a living. Was she a prostitute? A beggar? Or just a girl who fell for the wrong kind of men? Dutch/German actress Annemaaike Bakker is A’emme.
