Portuguese Tiles Still Life

This series explores the dialogue between traditional Portuguese tile patterns and contemporary still life. Geometric blue-and-white motifs create a structured visual environment in which objects, forms, light, and shadows interact. The tiled backgrounds evoke the architectural and decorative heritage of Portugal while providing a rhythmic framework for the compositions. Against this ordered surface, everyday objects acquire a different presence, becoming studies in color, volume, reflection, and spatial relationships. By combining a recognizable cultural reference with a contemporary approach to still life, the series investigates the tension between ornament and simplicity, tradition and modernity. The tile pattern is not merely a background, but an active element of the composition, establishing a visual conversation with the objects placed before it.
