Private Societies

Some of my "Private Societies" are made up by me, others really exist. But for me in this project, it's not so much whether they are real or fictitious. Unlike "secret societies", Private Societies are not shrouded in such secrecy and have little influence and power over society. I started this series thinking about what brings people together in groups driven by common causes, goals or beliefs. A sense of sociality, of being included in a particular group, is one of the basic human needs. But this inclusiveness often crosses over into bigotry and strange relationships.
