San Francisco

Leonard was born and raised in San Francisco and spent most of the first 45 years of his life living and working there. You could say that the city is in his blood. In 2010, he returned to painting some scenes of San Francisco, a genre in which he had often worked back in the 1980s. The beauty of the city, especially when shrouded in fog, has long lured his artist's eye. Many of the places he painted were places he had explored on his bicycle as a young boy and later frequented as an adult.
