This is a piece from a series called “Survivor Capes” of fibre art sculptures. This part 2 explores love. Using frills, and ruffles and bows and colour, these are an abstract exploration of what love looks like when you feel cold and clawed. Capes are often associated with superheroes. Not only heroes wear capes though. These are a series of capes for shapeshifting survivors to help them imagine new, strong identities while processing the pain of the past. These are capes for shapeshifting lovers. Each title suggests ways to view and identities to imagine for the survivors who could wear this piece. All the pieces were made from recycled material, photographed and then destroyed. The originals were all 1 meter by 1 meter.
