"In the months since I’ve returned from abroad, I’ve been challenged by the process of translating my experience onto canvas. Details of my memory fade, and I’m left with only the essence of the places traversed. The traveler knows the obscure nature of time. How to untangle a montage of over-lapping memories and make visual sense of it all? In this exhibit, I choose not to untangle; I choose to meld my memories by painting the alluring essences I’ve been left with, the merged nuances that beckon me back. I muse over the many blurred memories as shapes, colors, and atmospheres that resonate in my mind’s eye. Taken as a whole, these paintings are an amalgamation of scenes that offer the truth of memory: a reimagined sense of place."
