ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is my Stamp Loupe Art: Unique hand made one of a kind detailed assemblage work on an original postage stamp, framed in a magnifying glass. Miniature and surprising, a conversation piece, easy to hang. You have never seen anything like it! A piece of the 1939 New York World's Fair Series created for and sold on exclusively. This stamp illustrates "The Contemporary Art Building", and what is more suitable than Ai Weiwei sunflower seed?* With cute Teddy-Baby-Bear and Cherries, of course. It all makes sense! *Ai Weiwei original sunflower seed was purchased at the Israel Museum Store following his retrospective show.

Lilac Madar (born 1975, Haifa) earned her BFA in photography from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem (2000) and holds a master’s degree in Art history research from Tel Aviv University (2014). Lives and works in Tel Aviv and Boston. Madar’s works are based on the strategies of Dada and Pop Art: collage, ready-made, and references of mass culture. She uses everyday objects such as magazine clippings, old photographs, reproductions and stamps. These materials are means to reconstruct representations of gender and to subvert the values and ideologies that lay in those images. Her works are witty, sarcastic and full of humor. Madar exhibits in Israel and abroad and her works are included in private Art collections. She received numerous scholarships, and is a collage researcher. She is now working on numerous solo exhibitions.
