ABOUT THE ARTWORK

My new work in watercolor and cut paper experiments with collage in that figures are collaged into spaces/architecture that they were not a part of before. The contrast of figurative with hard edge is intriguing to me however, on paper, the relationships between things shift between emphasis of the figure, or the environment. The watercolor collages are studies for similar and larger oil paintings developed from 2015 to present. I am interested in new narratives that develop through this process. My goal is to draw light and space. I want the figures to look like they are moving or have just moved. I'd like the viewer to feel the space in the image and be inspired with their own narrative for the work. Signed on front. This work unframed.
