About The Artwork
The landscape around where I live inspired me to create "A Shimmer." Having recently created "A Glimmer", I wanted to experience more of the same emotions - to see what colors and textures would give me that creative "high". This piece, though created in the spring, has a very "Autumnal" feeling. The gold, red, and orange pieces of custom paper that I have hand-torn and affixed (on Arches watercolor paper) seem to jazz up a backdrop of painted (the finest Winsor Newton gouache paint) trees and foliage. The work is further enhanced with oil pastel - soft strokes that blend the background and foreground, and give the piece a "shimmering" effect. The work is matted with a 3" mat, and is framed with a black metal frame (32"x40"), and is "ready to hang". Each piece of artwork that I have created comes signed and dated, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Shyami Codippily was born in Sri Lanka, and moved to the USA with her family. She has been an artist since she was three years old, painting in oil, watercolors, and gouache; sculpting in marble; and creating various 2-d and 3-d works with various other materials. She uses her art as an avenue to communicate her experiences with nature. She has received numerous National and International awards throughout her artistic career. Shyami is also the author, artist, and producer of three acclaimed books on Howard County, Maryland: Farms Never To Be Forgotten, Churches Never To Be Forgotten, and Manors Never To Be Forgotten. Each piece of artwork that she has created comes signed and dated, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
